All members of the General Assembly have e-mail. Most (but not all) addresses follow the pattern of , as in jimb@ncleg.net for Speaker Jim Black. To be sure of your legislators' e-mail addresses, see General Assembly Information, below.

When using e-mail, remember to put what you want in the subject line (e.g. "Support Health Choice").

Also be sure to give your street address in the body of your e-mail so that the legislator can see that you are a constituent.

Here you can find the current status, bill history, or complete text of any bill under consideration (by clicking "Bill Info"). You can also find office numbers, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses, as well as lists of committees (at "Senate" or "House").

1. Don't Copy Our Information Word for Word
Use our talking points for data but write the message in your own words. It's better to reference our talking points and position than to copy our information verbatim.

2. Personalize your message.
Add your personal story or experience or the experience of someone you know.

3. SUBJECT LINE:
Be sure to include a short summary of your point in the subject line of any email you send, such as “Pass HB 1429, Raise Revenue”.

4. INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS:
It is important that you include your name and address in your email, so legislators know you are NC residents.
