PARENTS UNITED FOR FAIR TESTING ACTION KIT

STAND UP AND BE A VOICE FOR ALL CHILDREN!!!

Four Strategies to Take Action Against Testing

Parents United For Fair Testing believes that parents should have a say in the education of their children. Further we believe that if all children are truly going to receive a quality education, it is going to take parents, advocates and the community speaking out for children, particularly on educational practices that are harmful for children. A case in point is the North Carolina State Board of Education 's policy to promote or retain a child based on only one indicator of his/her success----a test score. This is a harmful practice and it is going to take YOU to stop it.

WE ARE ASKING YOU TO TAKE ACTION!!!

Here is how you can help.

Contact your representatives in the General Assembly and let him/her know how you feel about high-stakes testing.

Sign the petition against high-stakes testing and urge others to take take the same action.

Write letters to various newspapers to express your views about high-stakes testing.

Organize parents in your community and let local and state education officials know how your feel abouth the state's testing program.

You can also get active on-line. The Internet has a vast web of knowledge. The Justice Center's website, www.ncjustice.org, features a discussion board where you can voice your opinion and talk to others who are also concerned about education. The site also offers information about testing and a host of other resources.
